Watching Live chats. The bee's knees.
September already. I wonder when will we start to see Christmas ads?
I find watching live chats on Substack to be the nearest thing to meeting people in real life. That’s my opinion anyway; you may think differently, let me know if you do.
It’s also a good place to ask questions and connect with others.
often says, send a few dm’s to people, make a connection with them. So I did. It’s refreshing. It’s another way of easing myself back onto Substack and republishing, with a short, very strong rope linked to my website.
I also have one eye on the cat that visits us daily for a few treats. If cats could talk, this one would have a lot to say. It meows every time it sees us.
Live Chat’s
Two recent live chats I’ve enjoyed listening to are.
- - Here’s a short clip from Should you move your email list to Substack.
- of Smashed in conversation with of Professional lunch. You can catch the reply to the hour long chat

Recipes
I am gradually republishing recipes and returning to the kitchen, making something new. This is what’s republished and new. You will be able to print off a copy of the recipe and step by step instructions, and if you don’t want to read any blurb, click the ‘Jump to Recipe’ button at the top of each post.

Republished Recipes:
Vegetable and Lentil Pasties - Shortcrust pastry filled with mixed vegetables and red lentils. Great for using leftovers.
Chocolate Traybake with a chocolate glaze.- The glaze topping won’t crack when sliced. Ideal for other cake toppings.
New recipe:
Beetroot and Chocolate Brownies. Rich, Dark, Soft and squidgy. These are the bee’s knees. Give them a try and let me know how you get on.
There’s no newsletter this weekend, I’ll be travelling over the North Yorkshire Moors to visit one of my favourite places, Whitby.
Sadly, much of the moors have been devastated by wildfires these past few weeks, which, as I write this newsletter, are still simmering under the peat surface. The community and firefighters have been amazing in bringing it under control.
Welcome to Whitby on Facebook, which has all the details, along with things to do in this wonderful place.
I’d love to hear from you if you’ve ever been or stayed in Whitby. There are some great places for coffee and cake. Such as The Cornish Bakery, on both sides of the bridge, which I mention in the recipe for the Vegetable and Lentil Pasties.
That’s all for now. As always, take care and enjoy the weekend when it arrives.
